Prior to Submission
Create Your Abstract
Abstract content is limited to 250 words.
Develop your abstract in a word processing program prior to accessing the online submission form. Use spell check and word count features to ensure the word count (limited to 250 words) is appropriate and text is publication ready for marketing.
Peer reviewers use a rubric to review your abstract submission.
For more information on abstract requirements and structure, see our Abstract Selection Rubric.
Abstract content should succinctly:
- Define the problem
- Define the solution (include the process followed, time involved, who was involved, and expected outcomes)
- Provide research data, describe how the research was conducted, over what period of time, and the results
- Evaluate the solution and any further actions recommended
Remove ALL references to the title and author information in the abstract prior to submission.
Upon completion, prepare to cut and paste into the online abstract collection form.
Determine Topic/Track for Submission
Abstract content and the presentation focus should address the following topics/tracks:
- cultural awareness
- educational strategies
- nursing practice
- spiritual care
If uncertain which topic/track best fits your abstract, you may create a second submission of the same abstract under a secondary topic/track. Please be advised all information must be re-entered for secondary submissions.
Determine Presentation Objectives
To learn more about writing objectives, visit: https://academics.pnw.edu/nursing/writing-behavioral-objectives/
Each presentation is required to have a minimum of two and a maximum of five objectives on the abstract submission form.
Objectives should be:
- limited to one sentence
- written in statement form
- begin with a behavioral objective verb
- contain only one learning outcome per statement
- form the basis for participants’ evaluation for your presentation
Please compose objectives in a word processing program for cutting and pasting into the online abstract collection form.
Create a Professional Biography
Professional biography is limited to 200 words.
Written from the third person point of view, create a professional biography stating your experience (academic and/or professional experience) that qualifies you as a content provider in the submitted abstract topic.
Please prepare your professional biography in a word processing program for cutting and pasting into the online abstract collection form.
Each member of the presenting team is required to submit a professional biography.
Prepare a Presentation Resource List
Resources used during your presentation are required for abstract submission.
Each reference should be the most current resource available for your content.
Should the reference be older than 5 years, please prepare an explanation for inclusion at the end of your reference list.
All references are required to be in APA formatting.
Please create the APA formatted reference list in a word processing program for cutting and pasting into the online abstract collection form.
